Q & A
Makizume Robo
- Q.01 Can the appliance be used on any deformed nail ?
-
As in image, as long as the space between both ends of the nail is 2mm and above, the appliance is compatible for any kind of deformed nail. (2mm is required for hanging hooks in between)
If you are suffering from severe symptom, for example a nail shaped just like a tube, there are cases you can equip the appliance by following directions below.
1.Soak your foot in warm water for over 15 minutes.
2.Confirm if the nail is sufficiently softened.
3.Slightly widen the space between the ends with small pliers.*Do not use the appliance if there’s bleeding, fester, inflammation, and other situations occurring around the nail. Please make sure to use the appliance after the situation is healed.
- Q.02Can the appliance be used on onychomycosis nails ?
-
Please prioritize the treatment for fungus first, and use the appliance after it is completely healed.
The fungus may affect tissues of the nail, and in the case the nail may not be softened in spite of sufficient soaking in warm water.*Do not use the appliance if there’s bleeding, fester, inflammation, and other situations occurring around the nail. Please make sure to use the appliance after the situation is healed.
- Q.03Can the appliance be used on nails with small crack?
-
The treatment may cause larger crack. Please make sure there’s no crack on your nail. If you find any, please grow the nail prior to the treatment, and cut the cracked part off.
- Q.04Why are there 2 types of Robo?
-
There are 2 types of Robo to “beautifully reshape your nail”, no matter what kind of symptom you have. The shape of the nail formed with the treatment directly results to the final outcome of the nail shape, thus the requirement for “beautiful reshape” is to lift up the nail with Robo in beautiful shape.
The type of nails for each individual differs in size, thickness, level of curl and deformation, etc., and 2 types of Robo enables any type of ingrown nails to lift up and reshape in symmetrical, beautiful shape. - Q.05What are the differences between Robo type A and B?
-
[ A type ]
・It’s designed for flexible use even on heavily curved nail or small nails, by leveraging 4 joints on shoulder and arm of the appliance.
・Comes with 7 types of nail pressurizer.
* This enables best treatment condition that best fits shape and size of your nail.
・Has ability to lift both sides of your nail with equal power.[ B type ]
・Not eligible for nails deformed for over 90 degrees, as joints are only placed on shoulder of the appliance.
・Comes with single size nail pressurizer. (1 for a spare)
* It’s designed for lift up on single side, thus there’s no need for multiple type of pressurizer.
・Has ability to lift up on single side of a nail with twice the force of A type. - Q.06Why can the nail be corrected in such short time?
-
Please imagine your hair as an example. Nail and hair are both made of protein, thus they have similar characteristics, and there’s no pain even if you cut them, as they are both composed of dead cells.
Your hair keeps its curvature when its heated with a curler. On the contrary, they reform to their original shape when it’s moisturized with rain or hair wash. *As nail is much thicker than a single hair, the treatment would take more time, but still the characteristic is the same.
By leveraging moisture and heat, the nail could change or keep its shape freely in short period of time. - Q.07Is there any pain when installing Makizume Robo?
-
You will hardly feel any pain when installing Robo. This is made possible with 2 adjustment mechanism “a spring and a screw”, which softly adjusts when the nail is hard, and strongly adjusts when it’s soft.
* If you feel any pain, it can be eased by soaking in warm water for about 15 minutes before hooking.
In this case, soaking in warm water after installing the appliance can be shortened to around 10 minutes. - Q.08Please advice how to manage soaking time and water temperature.
-
If the soaking time is insufficient, it may cause nail damage. The purpose for soaking is to moisturize and soften the nail to its limit. For those with nails with normal thickness (0.8mm-1.1mm), please soak for around 20 minutes, and for those with thick nails, please soak for 30 minutes or more.
For the water temperature, please start with 38-42°C, and it’s OK for the water to be little cooler in the end of the procedure. You can also add hot water during the procedure. - Q.09How to confirm the end of the warm bath? (Important)
-
The sufficient soaking time varies by each individual, based on hardness, thickness, and moisture of the nail. You can finish soaking when you can easily lift up the tip of the nail without pain, or if there’s no pain when pushing the center of the nail downwards.
* This is the most important procedure for effective treatment, thus please take much time as possible until you get use to the procedure. - Q.10Are there any tips for using hair dryer?
-
If the drying is insufficient, the nail would easily deform again. Please make sure the warm wind hits whole nail, and take about 10 minutes for drying. (15 minutes for those with thick nails)
The purpose of this procedure is to harden the nail, thus longer and higher temperature provides better result, but please be careful not to burn your skin. - Q.11Please advice about containers and amount of warm water.
-
Any container would work as long as its depth is 15cm or deeper and large enough to soak whole foot. For the amount of warm water, we recommend as much as possible, as the temperature could easily fall with small amount of water.
- Q.12What should I do after use?
-
The bacteria can be easily bled in the grooves on the hook after use.
Please use brush and firmly wash with a neutral detergent. Please make sure to completely dry the appliance after cleaning.
* Please note the effect/time could vary by individual on Q6-10.

If you feel need for more stronger one, please try super hard type.

-
Cut off in just size with your nail, and gently paste to your nail without stretching.

* As the adhesive power of the cover is very strong, please make sure not to peel off aggressively, as it might over-stretch the Block. - Q.13When is the best timing to change the cover?
-
It’s best to change the cover when it started to become dirty.
(You can easily peel the cover off by soaking it to nail polish remover.)
* Please be careful not to over-stretch the Block when removing the cover.
* Please note the effect/criterion could vary by individual on Q4-13.
