The method is “safe“ due to the soft treatment utilizing two characteristics of the nail.
Characteristic 1: moisture absorption
When the nail absorbs moisture enough, it softens to about 1/4. This is same with the hardness of glass becoming a plastic bottle. You will feel no pain when it's softened enough.
Characteristic 2 : drying and hardening
Softened nail easily returns to its original hardness when dried. The treated nail will keep its figure once it's dried.
Reassurance
The method is “reassured”, as only items you use are “warm water” and “a hair dryer”, which you should be familiar with.
